There is a clunky dancing one, where you don't even get a visual cue for when you need to hit the buttons. What felt very weird is how they chose the British version of the game. Most of the tracks are pretty short in comparison with the stages. The sound effects are just as good, but the songs, all though catchy, are a bit repetitive. You can still see the monkeys in the monkey camera, and they still have funny names and quotes, but there are just too many monkeys. As an example: why so many skiing monkeys? When you need to revisit the stages, this only gets worse, as stages are bigger, and you will need to catch so many monkeys. The first game had this amazing diversity of monkey’s locations, but the second game feels very repetitive. Why do they require so many hits? The number of monkeys is just too much as well in my opinion. All of them have great personalities and the fights are very creative and fun. The boss fights have definitely been improved.

That said, some stages are beautiful, like the Christmas one. Some stages felt unnecessarily big as well. It's such a shame because the travelling the world idea was quite cool. We get a few stages that have real city/locations inspirations, but then there are the odd ones like a factory, a spooky castle, or a dinosaur land. Because of that, they weren't very committed to their vision of getting monkeys all over the world. The stages are all very different, but I got the feeling that they were trying very hard to keep it like the first game. The game has enough charm to stand in its own two feet as a platformer. It was a novelty for the ps1, but it's just old news on the ps2.

The rewind mechanic was missed, Sony! Where is it for ps2 games? I really feel like they should have abandoned the gimmicky controls. That can make some frustrating situations, when you feel like you miss an enemy, monkey or jump because you couldn't see the stage at an ideal position. The camera and the controls are still the same. The game is a tad bit more difficult than the first with more intricate platform sections, and the monkeys are, in general, more alert. This time, everything feels more polished.
